Congratulations to Our Members’ Artists on Making History at the 2026 World Cup Final!
27 July 2026
What a moment for music and sport! For the first time ever, the FIFA World Cup final featured a full-scale halftime show – and it was nothing short of spectacular.
We are incredibly proud that so many of the artists who took centre stage at this historic event are represented by record labels that are proud members of HKRIA. From global icons to fresh talents, our members’ artists brought the world together through the power of music.
Madonna (Warner Records), Shakira (Sony Music), BTS (HYBE/BigHit Music, distributed by Universal Music Group), Justin Bieber (Def Jam Recordings / Universal Music Group), Burna Boy (Atlantic Records / Warner Music Group) and Coldplay (Parlophone / Warner Music Group) all delivered unforgettable performances in the 11-minute spectacle. The show, curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin, also featured conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the New York Philharmonic and the PS22 Chorus.
This landmark event reminds us of something we at HKRIA champion every day: music has value. The energy, emotion and atmosphere that music brings to the world's biggest stages – from stadiums to your local shop – does not come for free. It is the result of immense creative investment by artists, songwriters and record labels who deserve to be fairly compensated for their work.
Congratulations to our members and their incredible artists for being part of this historic celebration of music, sport and global unity! 🎵⚽
